Jagan Shakti commences work on next film after Mission Mangal

Starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in lead roles, Mission Mangal (2019) inflamed the box-office on its opening day. Making most of the Independence Day holiday, the sci-fi movie raked in an impressive ₹ 29.16 crore on the first day of its release, becoming the biggest opener for superstar Akshay Kumar.

Mission Mangal has been directed by debutant filmmaker Jagan Shakti who has previously assisted ace director R. Balki on several successful films including Paa (2007) and Ki & Ka (2016). Instead of celebrating the humongous success of his first directorial, Jagan has commenced work on his next projects.

His second film is called Ikka, which is an official remake of Tamil blockbuster Kaththi (2014). The project is currently in the scripting stage. “I am structuring and writing my script for my third film. Ikka was announced long back and I have worked on the script for a long time. I would like to have it as my second film to explore my action and sleek presentation skills. I am already writing my third film, and I should be able to finish it by the end of the year and then put that in production,” said Jagan Shakti.

Rumours were rife of late that Akshay Kumar will play the male lead in the Hindi remake of Kaththi. However, the superstar is yet to confirm the same. Kumar presently has almost half a dozen projects in his hands, which are at various stages of development. His busy schedule hardly leaves him with any time. But since Mission Mangal has turned out to be a massive success at the box-office, it should not come as a surprise if the superstar teams up with Jagan Shakti for another film.

An official announcement is awaited.
