Fan Club Of The Week Anushka Shetty

TALENTED actress Anushka Shetty has lit up the big screen with her shining presence in a number of sparklingly successful films. The award-winning star has a huge list of admirers including three friends from Andhra Pradesh in India, who run a fan club dedicated to her. Eastern Eye caught up with them to find out more...

What made you set up the fan club?

Our fan club is for our Thalaivi, lady superstar, Sweety Anushka Shetty. It was set up to spread and share our love for her with everyone.

Tell us about your fan club...

We post pictures, collages, edits, art, memes, songs, movie scenes, interviews, updates of Anushka and more. Our account @sweetyanushkafc is followed by many of her close associates including @TeamASF and one of her brothers Mr Gunaranjan Shetty. Our Instagram account @anushkashettyfanclub is followed by the queen herself!

What has been your most memorable moment?

Our most memorable moment is when we noticed Anushka had started following us on Instagram (she is not on Twitter) because it is overwhelming for a fan club to get noticed by their idol and even better to see her follow us!

What is the best thing you like about Anushka Shetty?

The best thing we love about Anushka is that despite achieving pinnacles in her career, ruling the box office and people’s hearts since her debut with her ethereal beauty and stellar performances, she is very simple, grounded, humble, giving and extremely sweet. We love her versatility in her movies, pure heart, helping nature and the child-like cutest smile she has.

What is your favourite work Anushka has done?

We love her work in every movie; our personal favourites are Vikramarkudu, Arundhati, Vedam, Singam, Billa, Rudhramadevi, Size Zero, Bhaagamathie and the Baahubali series.

Tell us an interesting fact about her...

Anushka is her screen name, but her real name is Sweety, which perfectly fits her personality. She brought female centric films back down South with her path-breaking movie Arundhati. In a hero-centric industry, she gained a fan-following on par with heroes. Known for an electric screen presence and breaking stereotypes, she continues to amaze us.

What is your definition of a true fan?

A true fan is someone who is loyal, respectful and supports their idol through thick and thin. A true fan is never insecure about their favourite, will not put others down and only spread positivity and love.
