Deepika Padukone turns down Aamir Khan’s Mahabharat?

If reports are to be believed, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who recently married her long-time boyfriend Ranveer Singh, has said no to Aamir Khan. The superstar had approached the diva to play the character of Draupadi in his ambitious project Mahabharat. However, she turned down the offer for reasons best known to her.

Mahabharat is a project which is very close to Khan. Earlier there were reports suggesting that Mr. Perfectionist has shelved the project due to the heavy cost involved. However, now some sources have confirmed that Aamir is indeed making a digital series on Indian epic.

But looks like it is not going to be an easy project for the superstar! There are going to be many prominent characters in the series, so it will be interesting to see whether or not Aamir manages to cast the actors of his choice in it.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone will next start shooting for an untitled biopic based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film will be directed by Meghna Gulzar. Apart from playing the lead role in the movie, Padukone is also co-producing it.

The film will mount the shooting floors in March next year.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
