Confirmed: Katrina Kaif to romance Akshay Kumar in Sooryavanshi

After a slew of speculations, the makers of the forthcoming Hindi film Sooryavanshi have finally announced that Katrina Kaif has been signed on to play the female lead in the cop-drama.

In the Rohit Shetty directorial, Kat has been paired alongside superstar Akshay Kumar. The big-ticket film reunites the duo after a massive gap of nine years. They were last seen together in Farah Khan’s 2010 offering, Tees Maar Khan.


Welcoming Katrina on the cast of Sooryavanshi, Akshay wrote on Twitter, “Welcome to our cop universe, Katrina Kaif...our Sooryavanshi girl.” In the picture, Akshay and Katrina are seen posing together with Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar.

Sooryavanshi is being bankrolled by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films.

The film is set to enter cinemas on Eid 2020.

The theatre was packed for the Third Shanghai–London Screen Industry Forum. Between panels and workshops, filmmakers, producers and executives discussed ideas and business cards and it felt more than just a summit. British-Asian filmmakers were meeting and greeting the Chinese industry in an attempt to explore genuine possibilities of working in China’s film market.
