How do you look back on your acting journey?

I value each opportunity that I got. Every step has made it a beautiful journey till now.

Which has been your most challenging role until now?

Challenging and most loved has to be Devika from Kalash. It was challenging because I got to play different shades. The graph of my character was amazing.

Tell us about your current project?

Currently, I am playing Srishti in Pyaar Ki Luka Chhupi on Dangal. I play a small town girl, who is simple, educated and emotional when it comes to love. The story revolves around what happens when the balance between ambition and relationships is lost.

How does this role compare to the previous ones you have played?

This role is very relatable, as women often forget when to take a stand for their own selves in love and with loved ones. This character tells us how important it is to realise your own worth and not to let people take you for granted. A lot of women face this problem.

How do you stay motivated when you do so many episodes?

I guess when the story is intriguing and you love your work, that’s the driving factor. I am very passionate about my work and also fortunate to get stories that are very relatable, and it makes it more interesting for me.

What would be your dream role?

Kareena from Jab We Met. The character still resides in our hearts after so many years. What Imtiaz (Ali) sir had written and Kareena brought to life was superb.

What do you enjoy watching on TV?

I am watching Asur on Voot and really liking it.

What is your all-time favourite TV show?

We, as an actor, don’t get to watch TV with our hectic schedules. I like catching up with the episodes of Nach Baliye though. I am a huge fan of reality shows as an audience.

Who is your TV hero?

My mom has been my biggest inspiration in life. In the industry, Ekta (Kapoor) mam is my inspiration because what she has achieved in all these years and continues to do so is marvellous.

What inspires you?

Being an actor is a blessing, with so many characters and so many emotions. It makes you live it all.

Why do you love being an actor?

It teaches you something every day. There are social messages that you deliver through your work. Also, the endless love your fans give you makes you work harder.

Subhasish Chakraborty

Since ancient times the majestic Kumaon Himalayas in the north Indian state of Uttrakhand has been a preferred place for Yoga, meditation and other spiritual austerities. Justifiably, the Kumaon Himalaya is popularly referred to as the “Devbhumi” or the abode of Gods! Being a Yoga practitioner myself, I had this long cherished desire to visit the Kumaon Himalayas and Oh God! Aren’t they awe-inspiring?

To explore the rarefied beauty of the Kumaon region, I choose the quaint hill station of Almora, also popularly referred to as the “Cultural Capital of Kumaon” as my base. Almora is beautifully perched at an altitude of 1642 m and I must confess, the profundity of the jaw dropping Himalayan peaks touches you immensely. In this part of the world, there is no crass commercialism of the Tourism phenomenon. Almora has somehow managed to remain obscure, laidback and un-hyped.
