After Sushant Singh Rajput, Nitesh Tiwari casts Kriti Sanon for his next

According to reports, Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) actress Kriti Sanon has been roped in to play the female lead in filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s next. The untitled film stars Sushant Singh Rajput as the male protagonist.

Earlier, the names of such actresses as Jacqueline Fernandez and Shraddha Kapoor were doing the rounds. However, a close source informs to an Indian daily that the makers are in final talks with Kriti Sanon. She is expected to sign the project on the dotted line soon.

If Kriti comes onboard for the yet-to-be-titled film, it will mark her second collaboration with Sushant Singh Rajput. The duo earlier headlined filmmaker Dinesh Vijan’s directorial debut Raabta (2017).

Nitesh Tiwari, whose credits include Chillar Party (2011), Bhoothnath Returns (2014) and Dangal (2016), is making his next under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, headed by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Meanwhile, Kriti has a number of projects in her hand. She is currently shooting for Arjun Patiala. In addition to that, she will also be seen in Housefull 4, Panipat, Womaniya, and Luka Chuppi.

  • Film sets Shakespeare inside a wealthy British South Asian family
  • Directed by Aneil Karia and in cinemas 6 February 2025
  • Cast includes Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Sheeba Chadha and Art Malik

Riz Ahmed has entered Hamlet in a way British cinema has not quite seen. The new Hamlet trailer has been released by Universal, giving the first proper look at Aneil Karia’s modern take on Shakespeare and placing the story inside a British South Asian business empire. It is due in cinemas on 6 February, and the footage shows a tense, controlled Ahmed moving through grief, suspicion and family power.

The film teams Ahmed and Karia again after The Long Goodbye, which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. That success informs this production. This is the first time a major UK studio release has grounded Hamlet within a South Asian household for a wide audience.
