Mehul Choksi, owner of Gitanjali Group who is embroiled in the Rs 13,000 crore Punjab National Bank scam, has once again written to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s investigating agency, saying he cannot return to India. Responding to the CBI’s summons, Choksi said he cannot return to India as his passport has been suspended. “Regional Passport Office hasn’t communicated with me and my passport remains suspended,” Choksi wrote in a letter to the investigating agency. The 58-year-old, saying he has the highest respect for the CBI, added that he wasn’t making an excuse to not return to the country.…
