Soorma shows considerable growth on Saturday; pulls in ₹ 5.05 crores

Soorma, helmed by well-known filmmaker Shaad Ali, entered theatres on 13th July on the high end of expectations. The movie starred popular Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles.

The film is based on the life of inspirational hockey player Sandeep Singh, who went on to become the captain of Indian hockey team after meeting with a fatal accident which left him paralysed below the waist.

Though the movie did not open its account with a huge figure what with only ₹ 3.25 crores coming in on the opening day, it showed considerable growth on its second day of release and minted ₹ 5.05 crores. The film now stands at the two-day grand total of ₹ 8.30 crore at the domestic box office.

The word of mouth has spread and now the movie is eyeing for a huge jump on Sunday.

One thing is certain that Soorma is set for a sizable business before wrapping up its first weekend at the box-office. If all goes well, it can easily garner around ₹ 6-7 crores on its third day. And if that happens, Soorma will close out its first weekend at an impressive ₹ 14.50-15 crores.

The film is battling competition from Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, which is still going pretty strong at the box-office despite running in its third week.
