Sneha Namandi: TV shows, nowadays, are no less than movies!

Beautiful actress Sneha Namandi, who is playing the role of Daruka in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's popular mythological show Mahakali– Anth hi Aarambh hai, talks about what she loves about her character and what keeps her grounded in the TV industry.

What are the prominent projects that you have you done?

I have done a Kannada film, a Telugu festival film and a Marathi film Sarva Mangal Savdhaan, which will release this year. I have also done a special song in Telugu film Autonagar Surya with Nagarjuna's son Naga Chaitanya. I have been part of Hindi film Desi Bum, which is an offbeat movie. I have done two music videos, one was a Bengali song sung by Zubin Garg and the other one was for ZEE. Apart from this, I have signed Porus, which is again a show by Swastik Productions.

How do you define your character in the show?

My character in Mahakali is an innocent, selfless worshipper, who does not expect anything from the goddess, who she worships. She is completely dedicated, sincere and emotional and is very sensitive to her beliefs. This is my first mythological show and I tried to put in all that the character demanded. There were many shades that I got to portray with this character. I hope I have executed them well.

You have been part of Southern movies as well. How different is the work pattern in television and films?

I feel movies and shows are not different, where execution is concerned. Being a show, the pace of the shoot is fast as the episode needs to be aired, whereas films are shot at a slower pace. TV shows, nowadays, are shot on a larger than life scale and are no less than movies. It is wonderful to do a television show as you get to meet your fans regularly. I am eagerly waiting to make my mark on television. I also want to do reality shows like Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, as I am a trained dancer and dancing is my passion.

How much time does it take to get ready with the heavy accessories and makeup?

It takes a lot of time because the look involves more makeup than a normal show. I take two hours to get ready because my look is not that complicated. Other actors here, who have heavy makeup and accessories, take almost 3-4 hours. It is really difficult to be in the look the whole day and effortlessly act through all of it.

How is it working with producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary and Swastik Productions?

It is a dream come true. They are makers of such huge shows. It is because of Siddharth sir that I got inclined towards doing television shows. I would really like to work with him again. Working with his production house is an opportunity which should not be missed. I am also glad that I am working on his show Porus as well.

Any memorable incident on the set?

I will never forget how we practised the Sanskrit text of the mythological script. It has been memorable. It is not easy and I hope I pulled it off well.

In your career, what has been the most challenging phase till today?

Every day has been a new challenge. Although my character might be the simplest in the show, I feel that I could have done better with every shot I am never satisfied with how I have acted. If I am satisfied, the game is over. I have played characters like a boxer, a Naxalite, a dancer and have never opted for ordinary roles. It would have been very monotonous and boring to have done that.

What changes do you find in the industry over the years?

I think the industry is evolving for good, especially technically, it is becoming strong. Everything is improving, which is why we are motivated to continue to be part of this industry.

What are your expectations from the show?

I want the audience to connect with my performance and feel that it is real. I want to believe in what I perform for them. They should be able to relate to the character so that they could live it with me.

Why Karan Johar thinks Suhana Khan and Aryan Khan are paving their own way in Bollywood

Karan Johar has known Shah Rukh Khan's children, Suhana and Aryan, for years, almost like family. But in a recent chat on Raj Shamani’s podcast, the filmmaker stripped away all the glam and sentimentality to talk plainly about their journeys in the film industry. “These two are not just star kids, they’re serious about their work,” he shared.

Starting with Suhana, Karan didn’t shy away from the criticism she received after The Archies. But he pointed out that her next film King, opposite her father Shah Rukh Khan, will be a real game-changer. “People will finally see her for who she is on screen,” he said, adding that she’s put in the hours, studied the craft, and is not relying on her last name. According to him, Suhana’s work speaks for itself. He’s seen her earlier performances and believes King will prove there’s a real actor in her, one with her own voice, not just a shadow of her father.

Liam Payne’s £24 million estate goes to son Bear as pop star dies without will

When Liam Payne died in October last year, the world mourned a pop icon. But behind the public grief lay private matters that are now slowly coming to light. The 31-year-old singer passed away in Buenos Aires after falling from a hotel balcony, a tragic end that left unanswered questions not just about his final hours, but about his legacy.

One of the more surprising revelations is that Liam didn’t leave a will. Despite having an estimated fortune of £28.6 million (30.1 crore), his estate was left unplanned. After covering debts and costs, £24.3 million (25.6 crore) remains. With no legal document to guide its distribution, the court granted power of administration to his ex-partner Cheryl Tweedy, the mother of his eight-year-old son, Bear.

Diljit Dosanjh wears 130 carat emerald necklace at Met Gala inspired by the lost £20 million Patiala jewel

When Diljit Dosanjh stepped onto the Met Gala red carpet this year, he didn’t just show up in a designer outfit but walked in carrying history. Dressed in an all-white ensemble with a turban, a kirpan and a spectacular necklace layered with emeralds and diamonds, Dosanjh paid tribute to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, a name long associated with grandeur and timeless elegance.

The necklace was made in Jaipur by Golecha Jewels, who spent nearly four months crafting the piece. It wasn’t a copy of the original Patiala necklace, which vanished decades ago, but a fresh creation inspired by archival images and Dosanjh’s personality. It featured over 2,500 stones, with the emerald centrepiece weighing close to 130 carats, according to jeweller Manav Golecha.

Charli XCX to star in and produce new horror film by 'Audition' director Takashi Miike

Charli XCX is shifting gears once again, but this time into the twisted world of cult Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike. The British pop star will both star in and produce Miike’s upcoming feature, her second project under her newly launched production company, Studio365.

Known for pushing limits in cinema, Miike has built a reputation over the last three decades for his dark, genre-bending films like Audition (1999) and Ichi the Killer (2001). While the title and plot of this new collaboration haven’t been made public, Miike’s signature style mix of horror and shock suggests audiences should expect something intense. The script is being written by Ross Evans, with Yumiko Aoyagi co-writing. Evans is also behind How to Save a Marriage, which is in development with Robert Pattinson as producer.

World’s richest actor at 77 beats Tom Cruise, Shah Rukh and The Rock despite no film in 6 years

A recent list published by Esquire magazine has revealed that 77-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently the world’s richest actor, with an estimated net worth of $1.49 billion (approximately £1.2 billion). The figure places him ahead of more active Hollywood stars, including Dwayne Johnson, Tom Cruise and Shah Rukh Khan.

The list, released earlier this year, ranks actors based on their total current net worth. While such rankings often include the biggest box office draws, Esquire's compilation stands out for placing Schwarzenegger, who has not had a theatrical release since 2019, at the top.
