Priyank Sharma bags ALTBalaji & ZEE5’s MumBhai

Model-turned-actor Priyank Sharma is set to reunite with producer Ekta Kapoor for an upcoming web series. The young actor made his acting debut with Kapoor’s successful series PuncchBeat, which premiered in 2019. The new project, titled MumBhai, is a crime drama. ALTBalaji and ZEE5 will jointly produce it.

Filled with a lot of suspense and mystery, MumBhai will feature Priyank Sharma in a never-seen-before avatar. Joining him on the cast will be popular actor Angad Bedi who plays the character of an encounter specialist. Sikander Kher, who was most recently seen in Aarya (2020) on Disney+ Hotstar, has been cast to play the role of an underworld don. There is no update on who has been signed for the female part.

Priyank Sharma is psyched up about his reunion with ALTBalaji. He cannot stop thanking producer Ekta Kapoor for choosing him for the part. “I am elated to be a part of MumBhai as I find the genre of crime dramas and thrillers extremely fascinating. I am thankful to Ekta Kapoor ma’am for giving me this role which will definitely give my acting graph a new high. I cannot control my excitement as I am getting the chance to work with such talented actors like Angad Bedi and Sikander Kher. I hope to start shooting for the series soon with all the precautions and following necessary guidelines,” says the actor.

Set against the backdrop of Mumbai's underworld, MumBhai centers on the friendship between a no-nonsense cop and a deadly criminal. The story unfolds in the time span from the late 1990s to early 2000.
