We have heard many stories where people ran away from their homes to fulfil their Bollywood dreams. The latest entrant in the club is the gorgeously beautiful Payal Ghosh, who is entering Hindi filmdom with the forthcoming film, Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi.
Recollecting the time when, as a 17-years-old girl, she had to take possibly the toughest decision of her life, Payal tells us, “I was just 17 years old when I decided to run away from my home. My family is very conservative. Girls in my family are married off when they turn 18. I was 17-years-old when I left home. I knew it that if I didn't do anything with my life, I would have to marry in one or two years. I didn’t want to get married. I wanted to do something in life. Had I told my parents about my dreams well in advance, they would have married me off even before turning 17. So, I never told them anything. I used to talk to my cousins about my dreams of becoming an actress. So, when I planned to ran away from home, they helped me with what they could. Some of them even gave me their pocket money.”
After leaving her home, Payal landed in Mumbai and stayed with her elder sister. “After running away from my home, I came to Mumbai. My elder sister was here. When I told her about what I had done, she was surprised. She was shivering. She was more scared than I was. Thankfully, my brother-in-law handled everything nicely. My dad didn’t talk to me for the first six months. In between all this, I joined Kishore Namit Kapoor acting school. From there I got a BBC tele feature film. I started with that. During that time only, I was approached for a Telugu movie, Prayanam. Initially, I declined the offer but after 3-4 months, they called me again and convinced me to do the film. There has been no looking back since then.”
Directed by Sanjay Chhel, Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi also features veterans like Paresh Rawal and Rishi Kapoor along with Vir Das. The movie is slated to release on 15th September.
