Nakuul Mehta to also bid adieu to Ishqbaaaz?

Fans were shocked and highly disappointed when they came to know that actress Surbhi Chandana, who plays the female lead on the popular Star Plus show Ishqbaaaz, has decided to quit after the makers apprised her of introducing a time leap.

The latest buzz suggests that not only Surbhi, actor Nakuul Mehta has also decided to put his papers down and exit the show. Mehta plays the character of Shivaay Oberoi on the daily soap.

After the much-talked-about generation leap, Nakuul was supposed to play the son of his ongoing character Shivaay. Chandana, on the other hand, was expected to play his mother, something which did not go down well with both the artists and hence, they decided to opt out of the show one by one.

“It’s true that Surbhi Chandana is quitting the show as the actress is not comfortable playing a mother on-screen but news of Nakuul playing his own son is not true. Both Anika and Shivaay will be replaced by new faces. Currently, their wedding sequence is being shot. But soon we will start auditioning for new faces as by next month the show will take a leap,” an entertainment portal reports a source as saying.

Surbhi and Nakuul have taken the show to new heights with their admirable performances and great on-screen chemistry. It will be interesting to see whether or not the popularity of the show suffers from their exit.

HBO criticised for sidelining South Asian identity in 'Harry Potter' casting controversy

HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter reboot is already under fire, this time for casting Italian actress Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, a character rooted in Indian culture. The announcement has triggered widespread backlash from fans who accuse the makers of side-lining authentic South Asian representation in favour of what many see as surface-level diversity.

Parvati, originally portrayed by Shefali Chowdhury in the films, is one of the few explicitly Indian characters in the Harry Potter universe. The decision to cast someone with no clear Indian heritage has led to heated discussions across platforms like Reddit and X, with fans calling out what they perceive as performative inclusivity.

This internal strife forced the jury foreperson to urgently alert the judge on Monday morning about a “situation which isn’t very good”, casting serious doubt on their ability to reach a fair verdict.
