Mohanlal's Barroz to have music by 13-year-old Lydian Nadhaswaram

South Indian star Mohanlal's directorial debut Barroz will have music composed by Lydian Nadhaswaram.

Nadhaswaram is a 13-year-old pianist who won the American television talent show The World's Best in March 2019.

He is the son of Varshan Sathish, a Chennai-based music director who works in the Tamil film industry. The teen, who started playing drums at the age of two and is a self-taught pianist, learns music at legendary musician AR Rahman's KM Music Conservatory in Chennai.

The gifted teen can play Mozart’s compositions blindfolded, and he has floored television show host Ellen DeGeneres with his skills.

On being asked how he mastered the skill, Nadhaswaram told Telegraph India: "I just imagine the piano and concentrate on the range of keys. For example, playing the drums (blindfolded) is easier because of its range and you’ll hit something no matter where you hit. But on the piano, the keys are small. So it has to be accurate. It’s tough but I can do it (smiles). If I make a mistake, I’ll keep practising."

Barroz is a fantasy-drama and the story revolves around the protector of a treasure of Vasco Da Gama.

“It is a fantasy film for children. Barroz is set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, Africa, and India. It is indeed a story of our shared heritage,” Mohanlal said in a Facebook post.
