Modi most followed world leader on Instagram

India prime minister Narendra Modi is the most followed world leader on photo-sharing app Instagram.

According to a list published by online platform Twiplomacy, Modi leads the race with 14.8 million followers. Modi is closely followed by Indonesian president Joko Widodo with 12.2 million followers, and third on the list is US president Donald Trump with 10 million followers.


The picture of Modi standing with newly married Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and his actress wife Anushka Sharma was the most liked picture posted by any world leader. The picture received 18,34,707 hearts.

With a total of 16,35,978 likes, the second most liked picture was of Modi standing at a bus stop in snowy Davos ahead of the World Economic Forum 2018.

Other prominent figures in the list include Pope Francis, Queen Rania of Jordan, and the Royal Family of the United Kingdom.

Russia seeks new routes 'to keep oil flowing to India'

RUSSIA is already reorganising its oil supply routes to make sure India can continue buying large volumes of discounted crude, despite tighter US sanctions, according to industry analysts.

Since the war in Ukraine began, India has become the world’s second largest buyer of Russian oil. Western sanctions have forced Russia to sell its crude at lower prices, making it cheaper than supplies from the Middle East, the Guardian reported.
