Kabir Singh is unstoppable at the box-office

Shahid Kapoor's latest Bollywood offering Kabir Singh has set the box-office on fire. The film, which opened to massive audience response, has been minting a lot of moolah ever since hitting the silver screen on 21st June. Kabir Singh opened its account with ₹ 20.21 crore and has continued maintaining its box-office figures in a range of ₹ 16 crore - ₹ 18 crore per day.

On Day 6, the movie clocked ₹ 15.91 crore approximately, taking its grand total to ₹ 120.81 crores at the domestic box-office. The film has now crossed the extended weekend collection of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari (₹ 105.86 crore), Gully Boy (₹ 100.30 crore) and Total Dhamaal (₹ 94.55 crore) in just six days.

Kabir Singh has emerged as Shahid Kapoor's first solo film to enter the much-coveted club of ₹ 100 crore. His 2018 film Padmaavat earned over ₹ 300 crores at the domestic box-office, but it starred Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in lead roles, while Shahid Kapoor played the second lead. Kabir Singh has also become the ninth highest grossing Bollywood film of 2019.

Trade analyst and movie critic Taran Adarsh writes that Kabir Singh is doing well across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.  "Additionally, Kabir Singh is attracting repeat audiences, which is a rarity in today's times. The youth, in particular, has embraced the film and it is this segment of the moviegoing audience that's playing a key role in driving its business to greater glories," reads his tweet.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Kabir Singh is an official remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy (2017). The film stars Shahid Kapoor as a surgeon who goes on a self-destruction rampage after his girlfriend marries someone else. Actress Kiara Advani plays his girlfriend in the film. Both the actors have received great response for their terrific performances in Kabir Singh. Trade experts believe that the film may join the much-publicized ₹ 200 crore club soon if it maintains the momentum.
