India's Light of Solidarity - a poem by Aparna Madhvani

Aparna Madhvani composed this poem as prime minister Narendra Modi urged all Indians to turn off electricity and light a lamp at 9 pm last Sunday (5) in a moment of solidarity in the fight against Covid-19.

Modiji jo diya aap ne jalaya

Hum sab ne saraaha hai

Bahut is ujale mein saath chale

Kuch abhi bhi andheron mein hain

Unko bhi saath leke aage badhna hai

Jo diya aapne jalaya

Hum sab ne saraaha hai

Jo roshni aap laye hain

Use humein bujhne nahi dena hai

Jo diya aap ne jalaya

Hum sab ne saraaha hai

Is diye se aapne Bharat ko ek sutra mein

piroya hai

Sabke dilon mein aasha aur ummeed ki

Kiran ko jagaya hai

Ab corona bhi bhage ga

Is diye ke ujale se darega

Yeh dukh ke badal jaayenge

Aur phirse achhe din aayenge

Hum sab saath muskuraenge

Achhe din phir aayenge
