Homi Adajania on-board to helm Hindi Medium 2

Starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar in principal roles, Hindi Medium was one of the most successful films of 2017. Made on a shoestring budget of INR 23 crores, the movie went on to pull in approximately INR 70 crores at the Indian box office. Buoyed up by the runaway success of the film, the makers did not waste any time in announcing its sequel, titled Hindi Medium 2.

The latest update on the much-awaited project is that the makers have decided to rope in director Homi Adajania to helm the second instalment. Homi is known for movies like Being Cyrus, Cocktail and Finding Fanny. The first part of the series was directed by Saket Chaudhary.

In Hindi Medium 2, the story of Hindi Medium will be forwarded by a decade and it would be as much as Raj's story as much as of his daughter Pia, who had finished high school in the prequel.

Talking more about the film, producer Dinesh Vijan revealed, "We started writing immediately after May-June last year. It has taken us 6-7 months to finish. We had structured the first part in a way which can help us go ahead with the sequel because this kind of film deserves one. Also, it's important to do franchisable films."

Hindi Medium 2 will go on floors in August this year. T-Series and Maddock Films are jointly producing it.
