Dipika Kakar does not regret converting to Islam

Sasural Simar Ka actress Dipika Kakar does not regret her decision to convert to Islam and change her name to Faiza for her wedding to actor Shoaib Ibrahim.

Talking to a national media outlet the newly married actress said she was proud to have converted as it has made her happy. Her family has also been supportive, the actress said.

"It's true I have done it, but why and when I have done it, don't think it needs to be talked about," the actress told Times of India. "I think it is a very personal matter and I don't think I need to talk about it openly in front of the media. For the audience and media we are actors have always shared everything. All our happy moments we have shared with you all, but this I think is a very personal space and I don't give anyone the permission to enter the space.

"Definitely, it is true and I am not denying it. I am very happy and proud that I have done it for myself and my happiness. My family was with me in this decision and my intentions were to hurt anyone. This is my decision."

The couple, their respective families and close friends are happy for the newlyweds, but Dipika has not been completely immune to negative comments from people who did not approve of their inter-religion marriage. Shortly after their wedding, quite a number of haters took to Dipika's Instagram page to bash her for marrying a Muslim guy.

Dipika and Shoaib got hitched on February 22 in an intimate wedding ceremony attended only by close family and friends. Fans of the actors got a chance to witness some of the highlights from the wedding as Dipika made sure her social media pages were updated with clips and photographs from the ceremony.
