Confirmed! Taapsee Pannu to be seen as Mithali Raj on the big screen

From the past few months, there have been reports of Taapsee Pannu being considered for the biopic on Indian cricketer Mithali Raj who has made the country proud as the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team. A few months ago, Taapsee had confirmed that she is in talks for the film.

She had stated, “I’d say that I’d love to be part of the Mithali film, but it’s too early right now to say it’s happening. I’m in talks for it. I’m doing another sports film, which will be announced soon.”


However, now, it has been confirmed that Taapsee is a part of the biopic. Today, Mithali Raj celebrates her birthday and on this occasion, Taapsee took to Instagram to announce the movie. Along with a few pictures of her and Mithali, Taapsee wrote, “Happy Happy Birthday Captain @mithaliraj ! You have made all of us proud in more than many ways and it’s truly an honour to be chosen to showcase your journey on screen. On this Birthday of yours I don’t know what gift I can give you but this promise that I shall give it all I have to make sure you will be proud of what you see of yourself on screen with #ShabaashMithu P.S- I am all prepared to learn THE ‘cover drive’ ? #HappyBirthdayCaptain.”

Well, it will surely be interesting to watch Taapsee on the big screen as a cricketer and we know that she will give her 100 percent to the movie.

2019 has been a good year for Taapsee. She starred four films like Badla, Game Over, Mission Mangal, and Saand Ki Aankh. Her performances in all the four films were appreciated a lot. Apart from Mithali Raj biopic, Taapsee has movies like Thappad and Rashmi Rocket in her kitty.

Raghu Dixit to headline opening night

The South Asian Sounds series will return to the Southbank Centre this July, marking the third consecutive year of collaboration between the Southbank Centre and Asian Arts Agency.

Leading the programme is acclaimed Indian singer-songwriter Raghu Dixit, who will perform at Queen Elizabeth Hall on 3 July. Known for blending Indian folk traditions with contemporary sounds, Dixit has built an international reputation through performances at major events and venues, including Glastonbury and Later... with Jools Holland.
