Abhinay Deo: Irrfan Khan's treatment is important

Abhinay Deo, the director of Blackmail, feels that Bollywood should work on bringing quality stories. During an interview, he said, "As creative people, we need to put enough thought behind every script. We, as a film industry, churn out maximum number of films but just the number is not important."

"We must given attention to content, writers must be able to come up with good stories that are different. Our industry should not be known just for quantity but for quality as well. We should all aim for excellence and aim to write an excellent script," he added

The film’s trailer has imbibed a sense of excitement in the audience to watch the movie. Irrfan Khan plays the lead in the film. Talking about Irrfan, he said, "His sense of timing, the way he manages to deliver funny things without doing many things is commendable. We feel he is not doing anything but he has thought it out very well and makes it look easy but it isn't that easy."

Speaking about Irrfan's absence from film’s promotions, the director said, "It does affect the promotions. But everybody knows the reason why Irrfan is not here and that his treatment is important at the moment. We hope the film does well as that's what even he wants."

"There are times when the scenes are not funny, they are serious but the audience is laughing its guts out because of the situation. There is not a single character in the film who is trying to be funny but it is still a comedy," he added.

Co-produced by T-Series, the film also stars, Kirti Kulhari, Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh and Omi Vaidya. The movie is scheduled to release on April 6, 2018.

Amazon’s ‘God of War’ reset proves Hollywood can’t get video game adaptations right

Highlights

  • Dave Bautista is taking over as Kratos after Ryan Hurst's injury forced Amazon to recast the role.
  • The series is effectively starting again, with none of the footage from the original production being used.
  • The major reset puts fresh pressure on Amazon's attempt to adapt one of gaming's most recognisable franchises.

Hollywood's relationship with video game adaptations has changed considerably in recent years. Shows such as The Last of Us and Fallout have demonstrated that games can translate successfully to television when their characters and worlds are treated with care. Amazon's God of War, however, has already encountered a production setback that makes its journey to the screen considerably more complicated.

Dave Bautista has closed his deal to play Kratos in the Prime Video series after Ryan Hurst, who was originally cast in the role, suffered a serious on-set injury. Hurst reportedly tore his bicep while performing a stunt in June, around four months into filming. Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television subsequently decided to recast the central role.
