Aiden Markram played a pivotal role in the crucial match against Pakistan by scoring a significant half-century for South Africa. This victory marked South Africa's first World Cup win against Pakistan in 24 years.
The tense one-wicket triumph not only boosted their confidence but also brought them closer to securing a spot in the semi-finals. This win became their fifth victory in six matches.
South Africa began well chasing 271 as Quinton de Kock (24) and Temba Bavuma (28) landed early blows before Pakistan struck back with timely wickets, but Markram (91) held his nerve to take them close and they eventually got home in 47.2 overs.
Usama Mir (2-45) came on as a concussion substitute after Shadab Khan hurt himself fielding and he got rid of Rassie van der Dussen and took a catch to dismiss Heinrich Klaasen while David Miller (29) and Marco Jansen (20) departed after cameos.
But the Proteas would not be denied a first victory batting second in the event despite Markram falling to Usama and Gerald Coetzee to Shaheen Afridi (3-45), as Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi hung on to settle the tense contest.
Pakistan were in trouble at 141-5 but Saud Shakeel (52) and Shadab (43) stitched together an 84-run stand with some powerful strokeplay at the MA Chidambaram Stadium to guide the 1992 champions to 270 all out in 46.4 overs.
Pakistan were undone at the end by the impressive Shamsi (4-60) and Gerald Coetzee (2-42), who dismissed the in-form pair, as they ultimately fell short of an imposing total when Mohammad Nawaz (24) threw his wicket away.
They were earlier pegged back following an early double strike by Jansen (3-43) after Babar won the toss and opted to bat but Mohammad Rizwan (31) steadied their innings with the skipper before falling to a bouncer from Coetzee.
South Africa ended another blossoming partnership as Shamsi got rid of the aggressive Iftikhar Ahmed (21) when he looked to raise the tempo during the middle overs, shortly before Babar brought up his third half-century of the tournament.
But Babar failed to swell his tally and he gloved a Shamsi delivery back to wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock while attempting a rash sweep as South Africa's hopeful review paid off to leave Pakistan needing another rescue act.
Pakistani women in London faced a 60 per cent gender pay gap compared with men from the same ethnic group, and Bangladeshi women faced a 50 per cent gap.
A CITY Hall report has called for employers, local leaders and the government to take action to support Bangladeshi and Pakistani women into London’s workforce.
The research found that in 2022, 48.1 per cent of Bangladeshi and Pakistani women in London were economically inactive, with unemployment levels more than three times higher than men from the same communities (16.9 per cent compared with 5.5 per cent). Pakistani women in London faced a 60 per cent gender pay gap compared with men from the same ethnic group, and Bangladeshi women faced a 50 per cent gap.
Barriers identified in the report include bias in recruitment and promotion, inflexible workplace cultures, lack of childcare, exclusion from networks, unrecognised qualifications, limited digital skills and visa restrictions. Some women reported changing their names to secure interviews.
Commissioned by the Mayor’s Workforce Integration Network (WIN) and conducted by the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, the report recommends inclusive outreach, flexible working, recognition of overseas qualifications and clear progression opportunities.
Deputy Mayor for Communities and Social Justice Dr Debbie Weekes-Bernard said: “London is one of the most diverse cities in the world but shockingly too many Londoners experience huge barriers when trying to find secure, well-paid jobs. This research highlights the obstacles facing Bangladeshi and Pakistani women, and outlines how prejudice, discrimination and a lack of support severely limits their chances to succeed. We all have a role to play if we are to reduce this inequality, and from City Hall we’re working with communities, businesses and local leaders to help remove everyday barriers, including through the Workforce Integration Network and the London Anchor Institutions’ Network to build inclusive workplaces and improve access to good jobs. Only by listening to the experiences of Londoners can we build a more inclusive city, where everyone has the chance to succeed.”
Professor Adrian Pabst from the National Institute of Economic and Social Research said: “Despite having long enriched the city’s social, cultural, and economic life, Bangladeshi and Pakistani women in London continue to face entrenched structural and systemic barriers, which prevent them from accessing and advancing their chosen careers. The recommendations from our research offer practical solutions that have implications for the national effort to reduce economic inactivity.”

Ed Sheeran dresses as bride to marry Rupert Grint in A Little More music video
Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint stars in Ed Sheeran’s new music video A Little More, released ahead of album Play.
Video serves as a 14-year follow-up to their 2011 collaboration Lego House.
Sheeran plays multiple characters, including a bride at Grint’s wedding.
Play will release worldwide on 12 September 2025.
Ed Sheeran has brought back one of his most memorable music video characters: Rupert Grint’s obsessive fan from Lego House, in his new single A Little More. The video, directed by Emil Nava, brings together dark comedy, absurdity, and nostalgia, serving as a loose sequel to their 2011 hit.
This time, the Harry Potter star plays a man freshly released from prison after serving 14 years for stalking Sheeran. The track is part of Sheeran’s upcoming album Play, set for release on 12 September 2025.

What happens in A Little More music video?
In A Little More, Grint’s character tries to rebuild his life after prison. He joins a “Stalkers Anonymous” support group, attends therapy, and takes a job cleaning a mansion. There, he meets a woman played by Game of Thrones and Fast & Furious actress Nathalie Emmanuel, leading to a romance and wedding proposal.
But his recovery is far from smooth. Sheeran appears everywhere, from a prison guard and therapist to a gym trainer and wedding guest. The surreal twist comes during the wedding ceremony: when Grint lifts the bride’s veil, it’s Sheeran staring back, dressed in full bridal attire. The video closes with the pair slow-dancing under a disco ball.
Behind-the-scenes: Ed Sheeran in 60 different costumes
In behind-the-scenes footage shared on Instagram, Sheeran revealed the unusual concept was his idea. “The story is that Rupert gets out of prison after stalking me for years, then starts seeing me everywhere. I had to get Rupert for it. It wouldn’t work with anyone else,” he said.
The shoot lasted five days, the longest of Sheeran’s career, and required around 60 costume changes. “It’s basically a movie,” director Emil Nava joked. Sheeran appears as a priest, garbage collector, gym-goer, and even in the wedding dress. Emmanuel joined the project at short notice, describing it as “fun and wonderfully weird.”
The A Little More storyline directly nods to Lego House, where Grint portrayed an obsessed fan who sneaks backstage at Sheeran’s concert. Fourteen years later, the new video imagines what happened after that obsession landed him in jail.
The single’s lyrics mirror the tension between admiration and resentment, with lines such as, “Life got better when I lost you, but every day I hate you just a little more.” This whole emotional thread underpins the otherwise comedic visuals.

Ed Sheeran’s new album Play and other collaborations
A Little More follows Sheeran’s recent singles Sapphire (including a Hindi-Punjabi duet with Arijit Singh), Azizam, and Old Phone. The new album marks a departure from his previous “math symbol” titles and is expected to feature a mix of personal storytelling and experimental sounds.
In the run-up to the release, Sheeran has worked with an eclectic list of artists, from Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan to British and American musicians, showing his intent to make Play an international crossover record.
A clip of Grint lifting the veil to reveal Sheeran in a wedding dress has been widely shared online, sparking a wave of amused reactions. Many fans called it a “perfect full circle” moment after Lego House, while others praised both stars for leaning into the absurdity.

Sheeran’s decision to revisit the character after over a decade has been seen as a nostalgic nod to fans who have followed him since his early career, with the added bonus of a bizarre but heartwarming reunion.

Leonardo DiCaprio photographed arriving at the Patrón and Arón Piper hosted event in Ibiza
Leonardo DiCaprio was briefly stopped and searched by Spanish Civil Guard officers outside a private tequila party in Ibiza.
Girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti was also reportedly subjected to a security pat-down.
The event, hosted by Patrón and actor Arón Piper, was attended by several A-listers including Kendall Jenner and Tobey Maguire.
Rapper Travis Scott was denied entry for undisclosed reasons.
Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio found himself in an unusual situation when Spanish police temporarily delayed his entry to an exclusive Ibiza party. The 50-year-old star, best known for roles in Titanic, The Great Gatsby, and Killers of the Flower Moon, was with his girlfriend, Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, and a group of friends when officers stopped them for a routine security check outside a private villa.
The event was hosted by tequila brand Patrón in collaboration with Spanish actor-singer Arón Piper. Videos shared online show DiCaprio dressed casually in an all-black outfit and his trademark baseball cap, patiently scrolling through his phone while officers checked his pockets. In the clip, a woman believed to be Ceretti can be heard saying, “They are searching me full on right now.”

Why Leonardo DiCaprio was searched at the Ibiza party
According to sources quoted by Page Six, the incident was not a targeted stop but part of a blanket security policy for all guests. “Every single person was patted down and had to show ID,” an insider said, adding that the officers initially did not recognise DiCaprio. “They did a double take, and then he went in!”
The party’s guest list was filled with international celebrities, including model Kendall Jenner and DiCaprio’s long-time friend Tobey Maguire. Witnesses say DiCaprio remained calm throughout the process, even chatting and joking with the officers before entering.

Travis Scott denied entry to the same event
While DiCaprio eventually made it past security, rapper Travis Scott reportedly wasn’t as lucky. Multiple outlets have claimed that he was denied entry to the same party, though no official reason has been given. The incident adds to a string of recent reports highlighting the strict access rules at high-profile Ibiza gatherings.
Scott has been seen in Ibiza in recent weeks, performing at clubs and attending private events, but this particular villa party appeared to have tighter security than most.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Vittoria Ceretti’s Ibiza summer
DiCaprio and Ceretti have been romantically linked since meeting at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival during the premiere of Killers of the Flower Moon. The pair have spent much of this summer in Europe, often photographed together in glamorous settings.
Just days before the Ibiza party, the couple joined Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his partner Lauren Sánchez for a trip aboard Bezos’s £400 million (₹4,200 crore) superyacht. They were spotted dining at exclusive Balearic Island restaurants and lounging on deck during the yacht’s stop in Ibiza.

DiCaprio’s upcoming film project
On the professional front, DiCaprio’s most recent big-screen role was in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, a historical crime drama adapted from David Grann’s 2017 non-fiction book. The film earned multiple Academy Award nominations earlier this year.
Next, DiCaprio will star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s action-thriller One Battle After Another, slated for release at the end of September. The project is expected to draw significant attention from both critics and audiences, given Anderson’s track record and DiCaprio’s enduring box-office appeal.

THE Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card will be cancelled if its holder is sentenced to jail for at least two years or is named in a charge sheet for an offence that carries a punishment of seven years or more, the home ministry has said.
The ministry issued a gazette notification on the decision.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by the clause (da) of section 7D of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of 1955), the central government hereby states that an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registration shall be liable to get cancelled when a person has been sentenced to imprisonment for term of not less than two years or has been charge-sheeted for an offence entailing punishment of imprisonment for seven years or more,” the notification said.

Daniel Day-Lewis returns to the screen with ANEMONE directed by Ronan Day-Lewis
Daniel Day-Lewis stars in Anemone, his first film since 2017’s Phantom Thread.
The film is directed and co-written by his son, Ronan Day-Lewis.
World premiere set for New York Film Festival, 26 Sept – 13 Oct 2025.
Co-stars include Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, and Samuel Bottomley.
After walking away from Hollywood in 2017, three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis is returning to the big screen in Anemone, a family drama co-written with and directed by his son, Ronan Day-Lewis. The comeback project will premiere at the 2025 New York Film Festival before heading to cinemas in October.
This is the first time audiences will see Day-Lewis in a feature film since Phantom Thread, which he had declared would be his last. His unexpected return has generated huge interest, not only for his performance but for the unique father-son collaboration behind the camera.

What is Anemone about?
Set in Northern England, Anemone follows middle-aged suburban man Stephen, played by Sean Bean, who leaves his comfortable life to seek out his estranged hermit brother, portrayed by Day-Lewis. The brothers are bound by a painful, unresolved history marked by political and personal trauma.
The official synopsis describes the story as an “emotional powerhouse” that navigates strained family bonds, long-buried secrets, and the possibility of redemption. Supporting roles are played by Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, and Safia Oakley-Green. Cinematographer Ben Fordesman brings the drama to life with wide, atmospheric visuals.
Day-Lewis shocked the film industry when he announced his retirement shortly before the release of Phantom Thread. At the time, he issued a rare statement saying he would “no longer be working as an actor” and offered no further explanation.
In a later interview, he admitted the decision came from a deep, personal need to step away: “I didn’t want to get drawn back into another project. The impulse to quit became a compulsion. I need to believe in the value of what I’m doing; lately, it wasn’t enough.”
His withdrawal from acting added to his mystique, given his reputation as one of the most selective and immersive performers in cinema.

When will Anemone be released?
Anemone will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, which runs from 26 September to 13 October 2025. Focus Features will release the film in select US cinemas on 3 October, followed by a wider release from 10 October. UK release dates are expected to follow.
The film is already drawing attention as a major awards season contender, with industry watchers eager to see if Day-Lewis’ return could put him back in the race for a fourth Best Actor Oscar.
Daniel Day-Lewis’ legacy in film
Widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of his generation, Day-Lewis remains the only performer to have won three Academy Awards for Best Actor for My Left Foot (1989), There Will Be Blood (2007), and Lincoln (2012). Known for his method acting and long preparation periods, his limited filmography has only heightened his reputation.
His return in Anemone is a rare reappearance from a performer who once seemed determined never to face the camera again. With the added layer of working alongside his son, the project merges personal and professional storytelling in a way that is certain to intrigue both critics and audiences.
