A milestone film shaped by technology

Four decades into his career, Nagarjuna Akkineni is preparing his 100th film with a focus on technology that allows him to appear across different stages of life.

The film, currently titled King 100, will use de-ageing to depict the actor from his mid-20s through to 60. The technique is being used as a key storytelling device, allowing a single narrative to move across time without changing performers.

A commercial story with emotional focus

Directed by Ra Karthik, the project is described as a commercial film built around a father-daughter relationship. A rags-to-riches thread runs through the narrative, placing personal dynamics alongside a broader life journey.

The cast includes Tabu, Sushmita Bhatt and Vijayendra, with further announcements expected. Nagarjuna has chosen not to disclose more details at this stage, indicating that the team is planning a wider reveal.

Expanding choices and new tools

The use of de-ageing reflects a shift in Nagarjuna’s approach to roles. In recent years, he has taken on a wider range of parts, including appearances in films such as Brahmastra.

At Annapurna Studios, where he leads operations, there has also been a push towards advanced filmmaking tools, including motion capture facilities. He believes such technologies open up new possibilities for actors and filmmakers.

A milestone without finality

While King 100 marks a significant number in his career, Nagarjuna does not see it as a defining transition.

He continues to approach his work as an ongoing process, with the 100th film representing another step rather than a conclusion.
