Ibis Styles London Heathrow East hotel opened

The new Art Deco-inspired 125-room ibis Styles London Heathrow East hotel was opened on January 30, 2020.

Very near to Heathrow Airport, the hotel has been developed in partnership with Splendid Hospitality Group, one of the UK’s fastest-growing privately-owned hotel groups, and takes inspiration from the architecture of West London’s Golden Mile. The prime West London location hotel is an ideal destination for both business and leisure travellers.

The hotel is situated at the heart of Brentford’s commercial district. Transport links include Hounslow East Underground and adjacent to the A4, providing guests with easy access to central London. The hotel is a 20-minute drive to the Kew Gardens and Legoland and Thorpe Park.

The opening event was attended by over 100 guests consisting of Splendid Hospitality Group and Accor stakeholders, along with local businesses.

Members of the Splendid Hospitality team, including MD Andrew Kendrick and Vice Chairman, Nadeem Boghani, gave welcome speeches, followed by MP Seema Malhotra and Thomas Dubaere, COO of Accor Northern Europe.

Senior members of the team carried out the ceremonial ribbon-cutting before guests were offered show rounds of the new 125-room hotel.

Thomas Dubaere said, “I am proud of how the ibis Styles brand has developed in the last few years - it truly is a great example of how people, passion and great design can come together to tell a story. Our partnership with Splendid Hospitality has created an excellent flagship hotel combining passionate people, great customer service and stunning design”.

“I want to thank the Boghani family for their genuine commitment to improving our local area, and how you’ve designed the hotel to make it a place for business and leisure travellers,” said MP Seema Malhotra.

“Thank you for the vision which has gone into this. I know the jobs you will offer to the area will be very well received because they are jobs where employees are treated to be part of the family, and part of a growing and thriving company”.

The hotel rooms are bright, fresh and comfortably elegant. The lobby blends classical features with modern touches, like chrome accessories and vibrant art. The polished flooring and statement rugs also add to the multi-functional space and encourage leisure and corporate guests, along with members of the local community, to relax and unwind in the decadent bar and lounge areas. The stylish and comfortable restaurant offers relaxed dining with bar and grill style dishes, a press statement said.

Starmer rejects claims of favouring Indian workers in trade deal

PRIME MINISTER Keir Starmer on Wednesday dismissed criticism that the government had sold out British workers by offering tax exemptions to some Indian workers as part of the new free trade agreement with India. He called the claims “incoherent nonsense”.

The trade deal, announced on Tuesday, includes tariff reductions on British imports to India and allows some short-term Indian workers to be exempt from paying into Britain’s social security system for up to three years. The exemption is part of the Double Contributions Convention (DCC) and also applies to British workers in India.
