After Piku, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan will be teaming up for the second time for an untitled gangster based movie, which is an adaptation from S Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The film chronicles about the life of Ashraf Khan who is also known as Sapna Didi. The film was supposedly to be helmed by Honey Trehan, however, reports suggest that Vishal Bhardwaj has come on board to direct the movie.
Talking about directing the movie, Vishal Bhardwaj said, “Due to different artistic visions of the film, Honey (Trehan) and I jointly came to the decision that it would be best if I took over as director and saw it through to the end.”
“Owing to our differences in creative understanding, we have mutually and amicably decided that it would be best for our film if Vishal sir took over as Director,” said Honey.
Irrfan is elated to collaborate with Deepika again. In an interview with a leading Indian news agency, Irrfan praised Deepika Padukone by stating, “I will always be excited to work with Deepika. I am all the more excited this time (as to) how our chemistry (will) work. In this film, I am not (portraying) a decent or civilized man, so our equation in this film is completely (different from Piku).”
Adding further, Irrfan said, “I am very excited. The final version of the movie will be sent by Vishal sir. Our dates have been confirmed and so is the shooting dates. I’m really really looking forward to it. It’s an entertaining film. There’s also a dark area which we see in Vishal saab’s films but, it’s an exciting film.”
