Vicky Kaushal has many interesting projects like Sardar Udham Singh, Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship and Takht in his kitty. While Bhoot is slated to release in November this year, Takht will release in December 2020. And now, the makers of Sardar Udham Singh have announced the release date of their movie.

The film will be hitting the screens on 2nd Oct 2020. Vicky on his Insta story posted a picture from the sets of the film and announced the release date.

Udham Singh is known for the assassination of Michael O’ Dwyer in London in 1940 to avenge 1919’s Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. Earlier while talking about the film, Sircar had said, “I chose this event as it is one of the most pivotal revolutionary contributions to the freedom movement which has albeit gone unnoticed for generations. Udham’s struggle and sacrifice is a very important story for today’s audiences to be made aware of, and I have collaborated with my esteemed writers Riteish Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya, along with my friend and producer Ronnie Lahiri once again for this humble tribute to the maverick freedom fighter and his story.”

While Vicky starred in Uri: The Surgical Strike which was inspired by true event, Sardar Udham Singh will be the first biopic the actor will star in. Uri: The Surgical Strike is the highest grossing film of 2019 till date. The movie clearly changed the career graph for Vicky as after Uri, now filmmakers look at him as a bankable actor.

Talking about Shoojit Sircar, the filmmaker is known for making some amazing movies like Yahaan, Vicky Donor, Madras Café, Piku and October. Earlier, the director had planned to make Udham Singh biopic with Irrfan Khan. But later, it was officially announced with Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. We are sure fans of Vicky are quite excited to see him in a biopic.

Reportedly, Tiger Shroff starrer Rambo too is slated to release on 2nd Oct 2020, but the film is yet to go on the floors, so let’s see if it will be able to make it to the theatres as per the schedule.
