In an interview with a leading news channel, Shahid expressed his regret of not doing Rang De Basanti. He had said, “I regret not doing Rang De Basanti.” We are unsure about whose role was Shahid offered. However, the film turned out to be the biggest blockbuster hit. The film was immensely loved by the critics and the audience.

Shuddh Desi Romance:

Before Sushant Singh Rajput, Shahid Kapoor was offered the role in the film. However, the film delayed to go on floors, hence Shahid Kapoor backed out of the project as he had other commitments. The role then went to Sushant Singh Rajput whose performance in the movie was lauded by critics and audience as well.

Rannjhanaa:

This film marked south superstar Dhanush’s Bollywood debut. But, before Dhanush, Shahid was first offered the role. The actor rejected the movie for the reasons best known to him. Dhanush won the IIFA Award for Male Debutant Star for his outstanding performance in the film. The film received mixed response from the critics and the audience.

Shahid Kapoor was first approached for Siddharth Anand’s directorial Bang Bang. The movie was an adaptation of Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz’s Knight and Day and Shahid had to play Tom’s role in the film. As Shahid didn’t want him to be compared to Tom Cruise, he chose to drop the offer. The role later went to Hrithik Roshan.

Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola:

Shahid Kapoor was the first choice to play Matru in this Vishal Bhardwaj’s directorial. Shahid Kapoor rejected the role because he wanted to focus more on commercial cinema. The role later went to Imran Khan. The film also starred Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapoor’s father Pankaj Kapur. However, the film bombed at the box office.
