They may share a great bond with each other, but they are fierce competitors with each other in the race of becoming superstars. Their choices of films are varied and their films make huge business irrespective of the genre. However, there have been times when Ranbir’s rejected movies turned out to be Ranveer Singh’s gain. Here is the list of Ranbir Kapoor’s rejected films which was later accepted by Ranveer Singh.

Band Baaja Baraat:

Before Ranveer Singh, the role was initially offered to Ranbir Kapoor. However, at that time, Ranbir Kapoor wanted to do Anjaana Anjaani with Priyanka Chopra. Hence, he turned down the role. The role then went to Ranveer Singh, whose rocking debut in the film not only earned him stardom, but also won him IIFA and Filmfare Awards.

Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela:

After debuting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, Bhansali was keen to cast Ranbir Kapoor opposite Deepika Padukone in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela. As per the reports, Ranbir Kapoor refused to work in the film as he had decided not to work with Bhansali in the future after the debacle of Bhansali’s Saawariya. The role later went to Ranveer Singh, whose power packed performance received immense adulation from the critics and the audience.

Dil Dhadkne Do:

 

Ranbir Kapoor has time and again mentioned about his keenness to work with Zoya Akhtar, but as per the reports, whenever Zoya approached him with the role he had turned it down for the reasons best known to him. In Dil Dhadkne Do too, the role was first offered to Ranbir Kapoor. However, after he rejected the offer, the role went to Ranveer Singh, whose performance in the film is still revered.

Befikre:

Producer Aditya Chopra initially wanted Ranbir Kapoor to play the role opposite Vaani Kapoor in Befikre. According to reports, a cold war between Ranbir Kapoor and Aditya Chopra led the latter to choose Ranveer Singh for the role. Although, the film received mixed responses from the critics and the audience, Ranveer’s performance in the movie garnered lots of appreciation.

Gully Boy:

According to reports in the leading Indian entertainment portal, Zoya Akhtar first offered the role to Ranbir Kapoor, but he rejected the role as he didn’t want to play a subordinate to Ranveer Singh’s character in the film. The film is currently in the making. Apart from Ranveer Singh, who will play the role of a rapper, the film also stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role. The film is based on the lives of the rappers Divine and Naezy who shot fame with their song Mere gully mein in Mumbai.
