Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy chronicles about the lives of street rappers. This will be the first time that Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will be starring together in the film. The shooting of the film will begin this month and the preparation for the same had commenced last year.

When asked about the movie and his collaboration with Zoya Akhtar for the second time after Dil Dhadkne Do, Ranveer Singh said to a leading Indian daily, “In January itself, I started Gully Boy for which I collaborated with Zoya, who is very dear and special in my life as a collaborator, person as well as a director.”

The actor praised his co-star Alia Bhatt by stating, “Also, it’s my first collaboration on a full-length feature film with Alia [Bhatt], who I rate very high as an actor. She is certainly among the best actors in today’s day-and-age. I believe she is on her way towards greatness.”

Apart from Gully Boy, Ranveer Singh’s this year’s list of films also includes Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, Rohit Shetty’s Simmba and a biopic on cricketer Kapil Dev titled ‘83 which is Kabir Khan’s directorial. Talking about whether he feels pressure because of the high expectations from his films, Ranveer said, “I would not term it as ‘pressure’ as it has a negative connotation. I look at it as responsibility. And my first responsibility is towards people whose lives are directly connected with mine — my family, friends, team and fans, who contribute to my life in a direct way. I am answerable to them as well.”
