Kareena Kapoor Khan

Bollywood actresses often get advised against marrying at the peak of their career as it is believed that marriage puts an end to an actress’ flourishing professional life. Kareena Kapoor Khan was told the same before she decided to culminate her affair with Nawab Saif Ali Khan into a marriage in 2012.

Bebo was at the top of her game when she walked down the aisle. After taking a sabbatical, she made a powerful comeback with Ekta Kapoor’s chick flick Veere Di Wedding (2018) and regained her position in the industry. But the actress reveals that her career was written off because of her marriage and pregnancy decisions. However, she never paid attention to such notions.

When a premier entertainment magazine asked Kareena Kapoor Khan if she had any insecurities regarding her career after getting married and starting the family, she tells, “No. But there was pressure not to get married because it’s feared that actresses after marriage don’t work. Their careers are over. And after a baby more so. People told me that my career was practically over. But for me that didn’t matter. I’ve done so much work since. Also, I balance my time with family. I’m particular about that time and about being around. It’s a side of me that I can’t run away from. It’s something that I want. Work is there for sure. But my family base has always been strong.”

Khan recently wrapped up her next Hindi film Angrezi Medium with Irrfan Khan and Radhika Madan. She is now gearing up to start shooting for Karan Johar’s much-talked-about historical film Takht which also stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in principal roles. The actress also plays the female lead in Aamir Khan’s next outing Lal Singh Chaddha which went on floors on 31st October.
