Karan Johar clarifies no lead actors have been considered or approached for Dear Comrade remake

It was a couple of days ago when Karan Johar watched Vijay Deverakonda starrer Dear Comrade and decided to produce the Hindi remake of the Telugu film. Soon, there were various reports about the casting of the movie. While some reports suggested that Shahid Kapoor might star in the film, it was also reported that Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in the remake.

However, Karan Johar took to Twitter to clarify that no lead actors for the remake are finalised. He tweeted, “All the best and big success to the team of #DearComradeOnJuly26th ! Also a CLARIFICATION! No lead actors have been considered or approached for the film as yet! The planning for this lovely film is underway!”

While announcing that he will be producing the Hindi remake of Dear Comrade, Karan had tweeted, “Stunning and powerful love story! With top notch performances and exceptional music by @justin_tunes On point debut direction by @bharatkamma @TheDeverakonda is  BRILLIANT as is @iamRashmika well done @MythriOfficial ! ANNOUNCING that @DharmaMovies to REMAKE this beautiful film.”

To this, Vijay Deverakonda had replied, “So proud to have this man, watch, love and be the one to remake our baby #DearComrade in Hindi. Team Dear Comrade ✊? Comrade @karanjohar ❤ biggest hugs, love and respect for you. Can’t wait to do something mad with you and @DharmaMovies #DearComradeOnJuly26th.”


Vijay’s reply to Karan had also started speculations that he might make his Bollywood debut with the Hindi remake of Dear Comrade. Well, now we can only wait for an official announcement from Karan.

This year’s biggest hit Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani was also a remake of Vijay Deverakonda starrer Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Kabir Singh received mixed reviews but was liked by the audiences.
