Sanjay Gupta’s last directorial was Kaabil which was a revenge-drama. The film starring Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam was a super hit at the box office. Now the director is all set to return to his favourite genre, gangster drama. His last film revolving around the underworld was Shootout At Wadala which starred John Abraham and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles. He is all set to collaborate with John once again in his next and Emraan Hashmi also joins them.
Talking about the casting Sanjay Gupta said, “It’s my 3rd outing with John and I’m super excited to work with Emraan, I have always wanted to work with him and I am back to my base of film making, gangster dramas and all I can say is, it’s good to be home.”
Both John and Emraan are not new to the genre. While John played a gangster in Shootout At Wadala, Emraan also played the role of a don in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. Gupta always has a pivotal role for a female in his movies, let’s see which actress will be starring in this gangster drama.
The untitled film is set in the 1980s and 1990s. It revolves around the events that turned Bombay into Mumbai, but Gupta has fictionalized it. The movie will showcase closing of mills, the murder of a key businessman, the nexus between politicians, cops, the underworld, and the business fraternity.
The movie is produced by Sanjay Gupta’s White Feather Films and Bhushan Kumar’s T Series.
Meanwhile, John is currently busy with the shooting of Pagalpanti. He also has movies like Batla House and Satyameva Jayate 2 in his kitty. Coming to Emraan, he will be seen in Chehre in which he gets an opportunity to share screen space with Amitabh Bachchan. The actor is all set to make is digital debut with Netflix’s The Bard of Blood which is produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
