Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium’s sequel to begin shooting in August

After the success of Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium, producer Dinesh Vijan is planning for a sequel of the movie. According to reports in a leading tabloid, the shooting of the film will begin in August this year. Irrfan Khan will reprise his role in the sequel.

Saba Qamar who essayed the role of Irrfan’s wife in Hindi Medium had expressed her desire to work in the sequel. She had said to a Pakistani daily, “After the massive success of Hindi Medium, the producers are all set for a sequel. I hope Irrfan and I get to work in the second installment of the blockbuster.”

However, as per the reports in the daily, Saba and Dishita Sehgal (who essayed the role of Irrfan and Saba’s daughter in Hindi Medium) won’t be featured in the sequel.

A source stated, “The story flash-forwards by a decade so five-year-old Pia will be in her teens now, around 15-16 years. The story will be a fresh take on the Indian educational system with little reference to the original.”

However, the director of the Hindi Medium, Saket Chaudhary mentioned that he is not a part of the sequel, he said, “I have no idea about the film, I’m not a part of it.”

Recently, Irrfan Khan won the Filmfare’s Best Actor Award for his outstanding performance in Hindi Medium.

Meanwhile, Irrfan Khan is prepping up for Vishal Bhardwaj’s directorial which also stars Deepika Padukone. This is the second time Irrfan and Deepika will be working together after Piku.
