It’s a rarity to see Indian singers being conferred with a global recognition like Europe Music Awards (EMA). The celebrated hip hop singer Hard Kaur of India has been bestowed the Europe Music Awards for Best India Act for her single, All Stars Anthem. The Indian singer is elated on her win and mentions that her wait for this recognition is finally over.
“It feels fantastic to win this award because it shows that if you believe in yourself and work hard, anything is possible. After pushing as hard as I have for more than two decades, the award feels deserving,” said Hard Kaur in an interview with a leading Indian daily.
Talking about her challenging journey to music, the singer divulged about how it was not easy for her to release the music with no music labels funding in the project.
“Many music companies refused to support me because there’s a misconception about my capability. I had to fund it from my pocket,” she said.
However, her song from the album The Rising Mixtape became a chartbuster, thereby making her win over all the challenges.
She said, “It released on my label, Future Records, and went to No 1 on iTunes the day it released.”
Talking about the reception of her win by her dear ones, the singer who was in UK said, “I woke my mom up and hugged her.” Adding further, she said, “I’ve never received an award from the Indian music industry. My award has always been the love I receive from my fans.”
