Bard Of Blood
Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix announced a new series based on the book, Bard of Blood. Written by Bilal Siddiqi, the book will be adapted into an eight-episode political espionage thriller series. The series is multilingual with characters interacting in Hindi, Urdu, English and other languages.
Netflix had announced its original series based on Vikram Chandra’s book Sacred Games. Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte will play the lead in the series and it will be directed by Anurag Kashyap. The series will be shot on location in India and will be produced by a Netflix and Phantom House partnership.
Selection Day is based on the novel by Booker Prize-winning author Aravind Adiga. The series will be produced in partnership with Seven Stories, the U.K. based production company of filmmakers Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’ Baby) and Anand Tucker (Leap Year). The series will focus on cricket and corruption and will be a coming of age tale told through the eyes of its 14-year-old protagonist.
The series is written by Marisha Mukerjee of Quantico fame and it will be a supernatural series based in New Delhi. “Again not only speaks to my own duality and cultural heritage but also to the universal grey that exists between life and death, where religion intersects justice,” said Mukerjee.
Netflix has announced its first kids original series from India, in partnership with Chhota Bheem producer Green Gold Animation. It is a non-dialogue animated series, which will make its global debut in 2018. The series will comprise of 13 episodes and will reportedly have a budget of $3 million – $4 million.
