Finsbury Park mosque attacker batters Muslim paedophile in prison

A MAN who is serving time for killing one man and injuring 12 others near Finsbury Park in June 2017, battered a Muslim paedophile inmate while shouting anti-Islam slurs, it was reported on Monday (26).

Darren Osborne, a radicalised Islamophobe, battered child rapist Tariq Islam unconscious while shouting "F***ing Allahu akbar."

A source told The Sun: "Osborne was raging. If the prison officers hadn't got to him when they did Islam could have been killed.

"He shouted the place down, yelling 'F***ing Allahu akbar!'

"There was blood everywhere."

Islam, 35, was jailed for 13 years after his 10-strong gang groomed a Muslim girl aged 12 and gave her alcohol before raping her.

Both Osborne, 49, and Islam are serving sentences at Wakefield Prison. Following the fight they have been moved to different prison wings.

Islam needed hospital treatment after the attack.

While it's not clear how Osborne and Islam came into contact, prison insiders told the publication that Osborne was desperate to get a transfer and may have staged the attack to engineer a move.

A Prison Service spokeswoman said: "A prisoner from HMP Wakefield required hospital treatment after being assaulted on Wednesday July 24.

"The incident was referred to the police who are now investigating."

In February 2018, Osborne was jailed for a minimum of 43 years for ploughing into a crowd of people in Finsbury Park. The attack resulted in the death of Makram Ali, 51.

Sentencing him, Justice Cheema-Grubb told Osborne that he had been "rapidly radicalised over the internet by those determined to spread hatred of Muslims", she said.

"Your use of Twitter exposed you to racists and anti-Islamic ideology," she added.

"In short, you allowed your mind to be poisoned by those who claimed to be leaders."
