The queen of Indian television Ekta Kapoor, who has produced several successful series on television and now with the launch of ALTBalaji this year she has reinvented entertainment over the digital space.
Now the producer has already set her sights on her next web series Mangalyaan. Ekta who is busy doing her research on this project has recently visited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bangalore.
The series revolves around the Mars Orbiter Mission, the space mission that was launched in November 2013.
The series will be directed by Nupur Asthana, who also accompanied Ekta on the visit to ISRO.
Talking about the project, the CMO of ALTBalaji, Manav Sethi, mentioned, “That the makers of the show believe in the path-breaking content and on the inspirational stories. The main motive of the makers is to tell the audience the stories that have never been told before to them.
“Mangalyaan is one such show which talks about these women who have made India proud. We are proud to capture some facets of their journey while undertaking this path-breaking mission for India,” he added.
Inspired by real-life events, the show will shed light on the three women scientists who were critical in making Mangalyaan a reality — Seetha Somasundaram, Nandini Harinath and Minal Rohit. “The series shows every hurdle they had to overcome to make this mission a success. It won’t be a biopic, as the story will be fictionalised to some extent. Three powerhouse actors are being considered for the roles, but it’s too early to give out names,” the source added.
