Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for making some breathtakingly beautiful films which boast of magnificent sets, dazzling costumes and elaborate song and dance routines. His last directorial was Padmaavat (2018), featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.

After Padmaavat, Bhansali announced Inshallah with superstar Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The film was set to mark his reunion with Khan after two decades as the last they worked together was on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in the year 1999. However, days before Inshallah was set to begin production, Salman Khan walked out of the project due to some creative differences with the filmmaker.

After Inshallah got scrapped, Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced a new film titled Gangubai Kathiawadi. Alia Bhatt is playing the female lead in it. The project has been in the news ever since an official announcement was made about it recently. The latest we hear that the celebrated filmmaker has approached Hrithik Roshan to play yesteryear don Haji Mastan’s character in the movie.

There is no update on whether or not Roshan has agreed to come onboard. But if he decides to do Gangubai Kathiawadi, it will mark his reunion with Bhansali after nine long years. The duo last worked together on Guzaarish (2010) which also featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead role.

Gangubai Kathiawadi, which will be mounted on a lavish scale just like all previous offerings of Bhansali, is expected to go on floors by the first week of December. No official confirmation about Hrithik featuring in the film has been made till now.

Meanwhile, the superstar might next star in Farah Khan’s much-talked-about next directorial venture which is rumoured to be an official remake of the 1982 cult film Satte Pe Satta, originally starring Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. An official announcement is awaited though.
