There is something about sports movies that are truly inspiring and heartwarming. On top of that, they provide great entertainment for sports enthusiasts who are not pleased enough with watching sports events during the weekends.

The sports genre in movies has always been popular, but it seems like it grows at the same pace if not faster than the popularity of the sport itself.

With that said, we decided to highlight some of the best NFL-related movies that are available on Netflix and definitely worth the watch.

The Longest Yard (2005)

It is hard to imagine Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in a sports movie that is filled with drama, fast-paced action, and passion. With that said, they definitely bring a bit of comedy to the movie which is always nice just to balance the drama.

The story is about Paul Crewe played by Adam Sandler, who is a professional football superstar that ends up in prison after messy drunk driving.

He is been assigned the task of assembling a team of criminals that will play against the prison guards. It is a really fun movie to watch that has a lot of ups and downs and will keep you entertained for hours.

Division III: Football’s Finest (2011)

Here we have another football-based movie that has a bit of comedy and romance in it. The movie follows the journey of Pullham University Bluecocks, which is a small liberal arts college. The University has a Division II football program, which is the lowest division in the NCAA.

The only thing that is keeping the division alive is the head coach, which shortly after dies, and the future of this program is in danger.

After a while, President Georgia Anne Whistler hires an aggressive redneck racist called Coach Rick Vice, which will become the worst nightmare for the team. He eventually will turn the program around and create a winning team that is capable of rivaling anyone in the league.

Currently, this movie is only available on Netflix USA.

Undefeated (2011)

Undefeated is a sports documentary type of movie that features a Manassas High School team that has never won a game. The Manassas Tigers football team is an underfunded football team under the guidance of Coach Bill Courtney, who will work hard with the team and reverse their fortunes.

It is an Academy Award-winning movie that features some great acting and a lot of football.

Eventually, Bill will find every player’s physical and emotional strengths and start focusing on them. After a while, they will break their 110-year losing streak and win a game.

This movie is only available on Netflix USA and Canada.

Radio (2003)

Radio is probably on the list of best football movies of all time. It is a biography drama movie that features Harold Jones as a football coach of the T.L Hanna High School. He protects a handicapped young man from the abuse of some of the players in the team.

He says that his name is Radio, he can hardly speak. He spends most of his time in the companion of Coach Jones and after a while Radio transforms from a shy man to inspiration to the people around him.

He quickly becomes a beloved icon loved by most of the population.

Varsity Blues (1999)

Varsity Blues is a comedy-romance movie that involves Texas football players, and for everyone that doesn’t know, in Texas, football is a way of life.

The movie is based on Jonathan Moxon, who is pressured by his father to play football since his childhood.

Mox has hardly ever seen some football action since he has always been the second-string quarterback. After the first-string quarterback, Lance Harbor is seriously injured, Mox is brought in to finish the season.

He quickly realizes the hardship of being a starter, but he doesn’t give up and becomes a successful quarterback for the team.
