Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan and others come together for a video titled #LockdownOnDomesticViolence

Bollywood celebs are leaving no stone unturned to create awareness about the lockdown and coronavirus. A few days ago, Bollywood actors like Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Kriti Sanon, Sidharth Malhotra, and others had come up with a music video titled Muskurayega India which they had shot at their respective houses.

Now, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, Karan Johar, Madhuri Dixit, Farhan Akhtar, Rahul Bose, Dia Mirza, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Mithali Raj, have come together for a video titled #LockdownOnDomesticViolence.

In the video, these Bollywood celebs and cricketers are talking about the increase of domestic violence cases during this lockdown. They are urging people to report the domestic violence that is happening in their houses and in their neighbourhood.

Anushka took to Instagram to share the video. She posted, “Let's put a #LockdownOnDomesticViolence! #Dial100 @cmomaharashtra_ #DGPMaharashtra @adityathackeray @aksharacentreindia @virat.kohli @madhuridixitnene @karanjohar @balanvidya @faroutakhtar @rohitsharma45 @rahulbose7 @mithaliraj @diamirzaofficial.”

This video is an initiative by Akshara Centre along with Special Cell for Women and Children. While talking about his association with Akshara Centre, actor Rahul Bose said, “From my first-hand experiences from the 2004 Tsunami to the times of this present Covid19 crisis it is a devastating fact that calamities, natural or manmade, hit women hardest. During this lockdown period, incidences of domestic violence against women have spiked alarmingly across not just the country, but the world. It has been my privilege to be a part of this campaign created by the wonderful people at Akshara Centre in partnership with the Special Services Cell and the Government of Maharashtra. A campaign that seeks to shine a light for battered women across Maharashtra, telling them that we are listening, women’s groups across the state are listening, the government is listening.”
